It's weird - there's a lot of this out there, and I don't get it. Universal does many things very well. If you have children, it may not be the best place but if you are young adults or a teenager, I think their parks have a very large appeal.

Some people just have zero interest in Harry Potter...sort of like me and anything Twilight. Until the only new ride is spoken about like The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man is, many will not miss what they don't know. A lot of people also have strong attachments to Disney and just aren't interested in anything Universal.
Still looking forward to Walt's version of WDW & EPCOT.

I completely agree with this. I think that the biggest advantage that Disney has over Universal is that there are 40 years of memories for so many people there. That is why I think that whatever becomes of the Fantasyland expansion doesn't need to stray too far from Disney's classic, timeless stories and characters. I have personally never been to Universal. I think that I would really like it and I do want to experience what Harry has to offer. I enjoyed the books and movies immensely. But Disney is where I have grown up and where my daughter is starting to build her own memories. But I think that Tim is also right in that my daughter is only 6 and it just doesn't make a lot of sense for her to go to Universal just yet. I think there are a lot of people out there that can't fathom being anywhere but at Disney when they are down there.

You're exactly right. We live 3 hours away and I can't count how many times we've strongly considered spending 1 day out of our 3 day trips at Universal, only to reconsider losing a day at WDW. Since we have Annual Passes, we can never justify spending the extra money when we already have admission to WDW. I think when my son gets a litle older, he'll have a lot more interest in Universal, which will likely alter our plans.
Still looking forward to Walt's version of WDW & EPCOT.
